Expands offerings to include public relations and communications

BOSTON – Today CK Strategies announced the addition of Kate Norton, to serve as Vice President of Communications for the growing firm. With Norton’s arrival, CK Strategies will broaden its services to include public relations and communications strategy, boosting its successful government relations and political consulting offerings.

“I’ve been growing CK Strategies since 2009, and this marks the next evolution of our practices,” said Founder and Principal Chris Keohan. “Over the years, I’ve been impressed by Kate’s hard work and dedication, and she brings broad experience and exceptional instincts to CK Strategies. She’s a perfect fit for this first step in our growth. I’m thrilled to have her on board.”

“Chris and I have worked together in various settings, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to take this leap with him,” said Norton. “He’s built a stellar reputation across Massachusetts, and I’ve seen his success first-hand in the campaigns for Marty Walsh for Mayor and Deb Goldberg for Treasurer. This is a great fit and I’m excited for the road ahead.”

“I want to congratulate Kate on this opportunity with CK Strategies. Kate joined my campaign in September 2013 during a time of adjustment and change, and immediately had a huge impact on the message that led us to victory. She was responsible for guiding our communications as I made the transition from candidate to governing as the Mayor,” said Mayor Walsh. “She has deep knowledge and finely-tuned instincts, impressive relationships across Boston, and an incredibly strong work ethic. Chris Keohan has been a friend and trusted advisor for years, and I wish them both the best as they go forward in this new venture.”

Norton brings over 10 years of communications experience to CK Strategies, with a strong and proven track record of success in a range of sectors, from state and municipal government, to union and political campaigns, to philanthropy and the private sector.

Most recently, Norton served as press secretary to Mayor Martin J. Walsh, where she managed media relations and communications strategy for all departments of the City of Boston. Prior to her municipal government service, Norton served as press secretary for Marty Walsh’s successful campaign to become the first new Mayor of Boston in two decades. Following Mayor Walsh’s election, Norton was responsible for all communications strategy related to Mayor Walsh’s transition to office and inaugural events leading up to his swearing-in as the 54th Mayor of Boston.

Before joining Mayor Walsh’s team, Norton served as a Communications Specialist for new organizing efforts for 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. Norton has served in key strategic communications roles for The Boston Foundation, the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, and has advised and contributed to communications strategy for a wide range of federal, state and municipal political campaigns.

CK Strategies is an all-encompassing government relations, public relations, and political consulting firm specializing in general consulting, direct mail, and strategy and targeting development. Working for all levels of political candidates from City Council to members of Congress, CK Strategies has developed winning campaign strategies that fit the needs of each candidate.
